What is REAL?

From The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams:

"Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse.  "It's a thing that happens when a child loves you.  It takes a long time.  Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, you get loose in the joints, and very shabby."
"Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit.
"Sometimes," said the Skin Horse.  "But when you are Real you don't mind being hurt."

I am pretty sure that this child's rocker is real.  Loved by several generations of rockers, this chair just needed a little love.

Linda, that is adorable. The skirt style is perfect, what did you do to get that scrunchy effect at the bottom.

Thanks Nancy. Really it is just a self-lined (fabric folded) skirt that has been dressed by pulling apart the outside of the ruffle from the inside and doing a little scrunching. I thought this was less fussy than a tightly tailored skirt and more whimsical for little girls hopping on and off this rocker. And could be pressed back to flat for a typical gathered skirt. The fabric was prewashed and client did plan to machine wash.

I love the patterned fabric, it is perfect for a little girl's room. Great job, I can feel the love.
