It is hard to believe that 2024 marks 30 years as a sole proprietor business of custom sewn products. Not to mention an additional 10 years spent working as a designer in textile manufacturing. So wonderful to have 40 years in textiles industry and to have met and been inspired and energized by so many creatives along the way. 2024 calendar is filling up quickly.
With all that said, early 2024 will be spent buttoning up loose ends to close up my custom slipcover shop. Looking forward to blank canvas! Hoping to fill with family, coffee with friends, walks to the bottle shop, down dogging, digging in the dirt, and chasing more sunsets:) What are YOU looking forward to in 2024? With enormous gratitude for all the memories, Pencil Me In, LInda Meeks

So honored to be a part of Craft Your Creative Life, a Sewing, Business, and Wellness Retreat! What a beautiful group of professionals and I enjoyed getting to know each and every one. From early morning wellness and beach walks, to classroom demonstrations and hands on workshops, as well and business fitness and evening networking over dinner, a good time was had by all. Thank you to all of the attendees who participated and to co-founders and industry experts Sandra VanSickle and Sharon Gregory. I am grateful for their vision and execution of a hands on learning and growing experience. www.craftyourcreativelife.org/
Sometimes all that is needed to update a style is a little pillow and a puppy. Loving my new cordless roller shades in color tomato from Ronica's Custom Creations! All my favorite things in the kitchen are red!
Who doesn't love a tiger? The iconic Scalamandre Tigre silk, first introduced by Franco Scalamandre in the early 60's, is still going strong in both modern and traditional interior design. First woven in Italy, and now being manufactured in the USA. But the beauty of the silk velvet can't touch the real deal! These beautiful creatures can be seen at The Carolina Tiger Rescue in Pittsboro, NC. https://carolinatigerrescue.org/
Sometimes when it comes to seat cushions it is best to Keep It Simple Silly. This chair cushion was created by inserting a flat pillow into an antique linen pillowcase. VOILA! Easy to clean and super comfy.
One of my neighbors has inspired me to pick up my yarn over, and I'm so in love with knitting again. What's your winter crush? It takes guts to try new products! So excited to receive these sustainable products at my door and can't wait to experiment with alternative cushion guts.
So some stuff happened in 2021 in and around the workshop and beyond. Learned to make cheesestraws, toured Asheville in a golf cart, said goodbye to a furry friend, found an awesome new foam supplier, built some stuff, hosted a pumpkin roll, made some pretty slipcovers, noticed nature, celebrated fourth of July, birthdays, Christmas and New Years, saw a moon eclipse, and a few more sunrises and sunsets, and waited for the swans.
